CB043733I am going to start an online business, but am a little unsure how to handle the payment portion of the whole thing.  Not that I think I’ll get a rush of people from Germany buying my stuff or something but still, I want to be prepared for any and all clients.  I’m selling porcelain dolls

So first of all, what about credit card processing?  Do I have to go through some kind of third party ecommerce software company to do this, or do I set up a credit card machine in my own office?  And what about setting up an ecommerce merchant account?  Do I need to set up one of those for me, since I’ll be a merchant myself online?  I know my girlfriend sells knitting supplies on EBay but I think that’s all built in for her store.  I want to do this on my own.

I started this endeavor because I am nearing retirement and thought this would be a great way to build up my nest egg just a bit more, but I have so much to learn about all of this online, ecommerce business.  Does anyone out there have any suggestions for me?
