Last week a new girl started at work. I know that dating in the workplace is never a good idea, but then again, where I work there are no rules against it. So after we had met and talked a few times I asked her if she wanted to maybe go grab a beer after work, and she said yes. So after work the two of us headed off to the Applebee’s not far away and had a few cocktails.
It turns out she has been doing the IT thing for quite a while now. She told me about some ethical hacking course she took, and was really proud of her CISSP certification which apparently is some kind of a big deal for IT people. I guess the CISSP training alone was a real ordeal. Amazingly, I was so interested in her, that I started getting interested in her information technology terminology and stuff which normally would have no interest to me at all.
So we ended up staying at the bar for several hours and probably both had more drinks than we probably should have but we were both having fun. She’s a really smart woman with a good head on her shoulders. Plus, she doesn’t have any kids. So even though it is against my better judgment to date someone you work with, I’m going for it.
