The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) was based on a 1989 convention on anti doping by the Council of Europe. The Anti Doping Convention had gathered to set a standard for testing and regulation of illegal substances, particularly in the Olympic Games. The World Anti Doping Agency created its WADA code in 2004, but it has yet to be recognized as international law. It has been given the authority to regulate drug use at all world sporting events, including utilizing private labs and reporting to their internal governing body. One of the largest difficulties WADA has faced is a reliable, working test for abuse of human growth hormone and HGH supplements. Because where to buy HGH is untraceable and hard to pinpoint, the regulating body not only has difficulty detecting it but also difficulty producing any arrests in illegal use because it is a closed ranks system that is difficult to penetrate. Equally as challenging is the fact that common opinions are that HGH is acceptable, ethical and safe when used correctly; HGH is a good, safe, reliable supplement. While some reports have postulated that a reliable system would “take down” wealthier countries like the US and European nations due to rampant availability of HGH in those places, this is only a theory, and one as of yet unsupported by any test results. Hopefully in the future WADA will develop a reliable test, or come to the conclusion that reasonable use of HGH should be accepted in the games.
