People like to talk negatively about the jobs that they had when they were in high school and college. I, on the other hand, think that some of the best jobs I’ve ever had were the ones that I had during those times. One of my favorite old jobs was pet sitting.
I got started in pet sitting by accident. I had applied for a babysitting job with a family that had an adorable Boston Terrier. At the interview, I got along far better with the dog than I did with the kids. The family decided to go with another baby sitter. However, when they went on vacation later that year, they remembered me and called to see if I’d be interested in pet sitting.
As I was walking their dog around the neighborhood, a neighbor approached with a Great Dane and we got to talking. One thing led to another and I soon found myself pet sitting for people all throughout the area. I did this for several years and it was the most fun job that I ever had. It was stress-free decent income that allowed me to get exercise while I worked. Sometimes I think I’d like to go back to work like that again today!
