I’m in the insurance industry, kind of. You see, I am a bail bond agent. Most of my work is done as an Indiana bail bond agent, but I am also licensed to do Michigan bail bonds and will do those occasionally as well. It’s a pretty cool job, and the income is pretty good too.

The vast majority of the people I deal with are good people who made a bad choice or mistake. These things happen. Like people who have had too much to drink and then they drive their car home. To me that would be a far cry from plotting to murder someone or intentionally causing someone harm.

What usually happens is a family member or loved one will contact me, and I gather some basic information which gets plugged into a computer. Then we decide how big a risk we are taking if we move forward with this client. If the risk is reasonable we accept them as a client. At that point the client gives us ten percent of what bail has been set at. That ten percent is our fee, and is not refundable. Then we post bail, and the client is free until their trial. It’s just that easy.
